Secondary progressions: the slow inner clock of your chart.

Here is a simple equation: one day equals one year. The sky 30 days after your birth describes you at 30. Transits show what happens to you from the outside. Progressions show how you change on the inside, slowly, like a season turning.

How it works

To find your progressed chart at age 40, take the positions of the planets 40 days after your birth. That's all. The faster a planet moves, the more it travels in your progressed chart: the Moon a lot, the Sun about one degree a year, the slow planets almost nothing.

The progressed Moon: your emotional weather

The progressed Moon moves about one degree a month, so it spends around two and a half years in each sign and house, and goes round the whole chart in about 27 to 28 years. The house it crosses shows where your heart and your attention go for that period. Many people recognize a move, a new relationship or a change of focus when it changes house.

The progressed Sun: a new chapter of identity

The progressed Sun moves about one degree a year, so it changes sign roughly every 30 years. Most people live this two or three times. It often feels like growing into a new way of being yourself, slowly, over a year or two.

The progressed lunation cycle

The progressed Sun and Moon meet in a progressed New Moon about every 29 to 30 years. The cycle that follows has phases like the real Moon: a dark, seed-like start, a building phase, a progressed Full Moon around 15 years later when things come to light, then a release. Knowing your phase tells you if it is time to plant, to grow or to harvest.

Stations: when a planet turns

When a planet turns retrograde or direct in your progressed chart, its theme changes direction for years. A progressed Venus turning direct, for example, can mark the end of a long inward period in love. These moments are rare and worth checking.

Questions

What is the difference between progressions and transits?

Transits are the real planets today touching your chart, events from the outside. Progressions are symbolic: one day for one year. They describe inner growth and maturing.

Do I need my birth time?

Yes for the progressed Moon's house and the progressed angles. Without it you can still follow the progressed Sun and the progressed lunation phase.

How long does the progressed Moon stay in a sign?

About two and a half years, and it goes round the whole zodiac in about 27 to 28 years.

What is a progressed New Moon?

The moment the progressed Moon catches up with the progressed Sun. It opens a cycle of about 30 years and often feels like a quiet new beginning.
