Zodiacal releasing is an ancient method that cuts a life into chapters of different lengths, each ruled by a sign. It shows when a chapter opens, when it reaches its peak and when life turns a corner. Astrologers use it to see the shape of a career or of a life story.
Where it starts
The method starts from a point of the birth chart called a Lot. The Lot of Spirit is used for career, action and what you choose to do. The Lot of Fortune is used for the body, health and what happens to you.
From the sign of that Lot, the life is released sign after sign. Each sign lasts a fixed number of years: from 8 years for Cancer up to 30 years for Capricorn. Inside each big chapter, smaller chapters follow the same order.
Peak periods
Some chapters fall in angular signs counted from the starting Lot. These are peak periods: times when what you do is more visible, when you are more active or more exposed. People often see a promotion, a launch or a public moment there.
Peak periods are not always easy. They are intense. The quieter chapters in between are often times of preparation.
Loosing of the bond
Inside a long chapter, once the smaller chapters have gone all the way around the zodiac, the method does not start again from the same sign: it jumps to the opposite sign. This jump is called the loosing of the bond. It often marks a real change of direction, a turning point that changes the rest of the story.
How to read it with other techniques
Zodiacal releasing gives the long chapters. Profections give the theme of each year. Transits and eclipses give the exact weeks. When the three point to the same time, something important is likely to happen.
